Viking River Cruises, a cruise line that is already having a banner year due to the introduction of 6 new ships in 2012, has now signed an agreement with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri for the construction of two more ships, with the option for a third.
Each ship will be 45,000 gross tons and accommodate 998 passengers. The first will be delivered in late 2014, and the second a year later.
Viking had previously placed this ship order with STX France but withdrew to financing complications.
